Bantayan Island is located in the Visayan Sea, Philippines. It is part of the province of Cebu.

How to get there:

  1. Fly to Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Cebu City.
  2.  From Cebu Take a bus or private vehicle to Hagnaya Port from Cebu North Bus Terminal.
  3. From Hagnaya Port, take a ferry to Santa Fe Port on Bantayan Island.

Alternatively, if your trip allows for more disposable income, you can arrange a private vehicle to transport you straight from the Airport up to Hagnaya Port.

How to Get Around Bantayan?

Tricycles are a common mode of transportation on the island. They are cheap and budget-friendly, perfect for short distances.
Renting a motorcycle is a popular choice for exploring the island independently. This will allow you more freedom and flexibility for your trip.

You can rent a car from Cebu and easily bring it across the ferry for a fee. 

If you are local to Cebu, why not bring your own car to Bantayan? Explore the island with more freedom and at your own pace. 

Where to Stay In Bantayan?

Many resorts and accommodations are located in Santa Fe, offering beachfront options.
Bantayan Town also has a variety of guesthouses, inns, and budget-friendly accommodations.

Best Things To Do In Bantayan

1 - SUP Or Kayak In Baigad Lagoon

Explore the picturesque Baigad Lagoon, a serene natural lagoon surrounded by lush greenery. To fully appreciate the tranquil beauty of the lagoon, engage in kayaking or paddleboarding for a more immersive experience. Be prepared, the paddle to the beach is upstream and will require some strong paddling to reach the beach (it is worthwhile to access this quiet, secluded haven). This is undoubtedly one of my favourite things to do in Bantayan!

2 - Visit Virgin Island

Rent a boat to take you to one of the most iconic tourist spots on Bantayan Island—Virgin Island—known for its stunning beach at low tide. Enjoy the crystal-clear waters, and if you’re into snorkeling, explore the vibrant underwater life. Don’t forget to relax on the beautiful white sand and relish the serenity of this uninhabited paradise. Bring fresh fish from the mainland to have it cooked on the island.

3 - Go Beach Hopping Around The Island

Take time out of your trip to explore the island’s breathtaking beaches. Bantayan’s beaches boast sandy white shores and crystal-clear waters, offering a perfect environment to unwind, swim, and soak up the sun. The top beaches are Sugar Beach, Paradise Beach, and Kota Beach.

4- Skydive

For the ultimate adrenaline rush, consider skydiving to get a breathtaking aerial view of the island and its surroundings. If skydiving is on your bucket list – choose a jump with jaw-dropping scenery – choose Bantayan! This will be a memory you’ll cherish forever.

5 - Swim In Ogtong Cave

Experience the unique Ogtong Cave, a natural cave pool within the Ogtong Cave Resort. For a small price, you can Take a refreshing dip in the cave’s clear waters surrounded by lush vegetation, creating a tranquil and rejuvenating escape.

6 - Explore The Mangroves

Discover the beauty of Obo-Ob Mangrove Garden, an ecological activity showcasing the importance of mangroves. Wander through the boardwalk as you find yourself surrounded by mangroves. This eco-activity is a great way to discover and appreciate the biodiversity and ecological significance of this ecosystem.

7 - The Ruins

This local cliff diving spot adjacent to an old abandoned building offers a thrilling experience for adventure seekers. Before cliff diving, ensure you check the tide times and seek guidance from the knowledgeable locals to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. It’s also a perfect spot to capture the stunning sunset.
