ToggleWhy Siargao Is The Best:
Of all the unforgettable places to travel in the Philippines, Siargao stands out as one of the most breathtaking. From relaxing on the beaches to catching some waves and even eating your weight in food, the island is home to everything you need for a pretty incredible, and arguably perfect, vacation.
Where To Stay In Siargao:
Due to the island’s popularity, especially in peak season, it’s best to book your accommodation before you arrive.
The good news is that the island has accommodations to suit every budget. From cute surf shacks to luxury 5-star resorts and homely Airbnb, there is bound to be a perfect accommodation for you. Stay near General Luna, for closest access to nightlife, cafes and tourist attractions.
Check out Greenhouse Siargao or Buddha’s surf resort for an epic couples accommodation.
Getting to Siargao: Your Gateway to Paradise
Before we dive into the itinerary, let’s talk about how to reach this slice of heaven. Siargao has its own airport, Sayak Airport, with regular flights from major Philippine cities like Manila, Cebu, and Davao. Once you land, you’re just a short tricycle or van ride away from the main tourist areas.
Alternatively, you can book a ferry and enjoy the long boat ride, appreciating the ocean sunset and keeping an eye out for dolphins.
We took the ferry from Cebu to Siargao, taking up 12 hours of our trip (each way)! And while the journey was beautiful, if you have the budget, we believe a domestic flight is the better option as it saves significant time and stress!
3 Days In Siargao
Your 3-Day Siargao Itinerary: Making Every Moment Count
- Day 1:
Morning: Start your Siargao adventure with a surfing lesson at Cloud 9, the island’s most famous surf spot. Don’t worry if you’re a beginner – there are plenty of instructors ready to help you catch your first wave.
If you are a more experienced surfer, consider checking out the waves at one of the quieter spots, such as Pacifico. There are plenty of board rental shops scattered around the main town, so finding a board shouldn’t be a problem!
Afternoon: After lunch and coffee (and of course, cake), rent a motorbike and explore the coastal road. Stop at the iconic Palm Road for that perfect Instagram shot.
Evening: Wind down with dinner at one of the many beachfront restaurants in General Luna, watching the sunset paint the sky in vibrant hues.
- Day 2:
Morning: Embark on the classic Siargao island-hopping tour. Visit Guyam, Daku, and Naked Islands, each offering endless beauty.
Afternoon: Back on the main island, head to the Magpupungko Rock Pools. Time your visit with low tide to enjoy the natural infinity pools.
Evening: Treat yourself to a seafood feast at a local market or restaurant, savouring the freshest catch of the day.
- Day 3:
Morning: Take a trip to the beautiful Maasin River, where you can enjoy a boat ride and rope swing.
Afternoon: On your way back, stop at Coconut Plantation Viewpoint for breathtaking panoramic views of the island.
Evening: For your last night, join a beach bonfire or drink at one of the trendy bars in General Luna
We highly recommend this underground bar called ‘Manu‘. It has a laidback vibe, fantastic food, great cocktails at an affordable price.
Siargao Expenses: Budgeting for Paradise
Due to its growing tourist popularity, Siargao is becoming more expensive, making it harder to travel here on a budget.
Here’s a rough idea of what to expect:
- Accommodation: ₱500-₱5000+ per night (hostels to luxury resorts)
- Food: ₱200+ per day (local eateries to upscale restaurants)
- Activities: ₱500-₱2000 per day (surfing lessons, island hopping, etc.)
- Transportation: ₱300-₱500 per day (motorbike rental)
Pro tip: Book accommodations in advance, especially during peak season (July to November).
Extending Your Stay: 5-Day Siargao Itinerary
Perhaps 3 days in Siargao is not enough! If you can spare two more days (and trust us, you’ll want to), here’s how to make the most of them:
Day 4: Off the Beaten Path
- Morning: Visit the Tayangban Cave Pool for a unique swimming experience.
- Afternoon: Explore the less-touristy northern part of the island, including the picturesque Pacifico Beach.
Day 5: Relaxation and Reflection
- Morning: Take a yoga class or enjoy a spa treatment to rejuvenate your body and mind.
- Afternoon: Take a trip to the stunning Sugba Lagoon. Kayak through emerald waters surrounded by lush mangroves.
- Evening: End your trip with a sunset at the Catangnan-Cabitoonan Bridge
